Spring has sprung, and with that often comes sinking and settling driveways. A few months ago, we completed a lifting and leveling driveway project, and we figured we’d show you how quick and clean this process is!
To lift concrete slabs, whether driveways, sidewalks, patios, or porches, we begin by drilling small holes through the concrete. Then, we use a professional concrete-leveling polyurethane mixture. As the poly mix is introduced to the air, it begins to expand and harden.
During the expansion process, the foam fills any areas beneath the concrete that may have contributed to the settling problem. As more product is pumped beneath the concrete, it slowly lifts the slab. This state-of-the-art concrete leveling process is quick, but it lasts for years to come!
An older method of leveling concrete, mudjacking, would solve the problem… for a few years. This method of lifting concrete can make the situation worse over time. Unlike polyjacking, mudjacking is a process that includes a concrete slurry, which adds more weight to already compromised soil. Over time, you’ll likely notice the same areas sinking once again.
On the other hand, polyurethane forms a strong bond with the soil, strengthening it throughout the process. Because polyjacking uses polyurethane foam instead of concrete mixtures, less time is needed for curing. Actually, the cure time for polyjacking is almost instant! No more parking on the street or wondering when it’s okay to start using your driveway again!
